Queen Camilla has been appointed Royal Patron of the Brontë Birthplace, marking a new cultural role for the Queen Consort at the historic site linked to the Brontë literary family.
The announcement was made by the organisation on social media, describing the development as the start of a “new royal chapter” following her acceptance of the invitation from Buckingham Palace.
The Brontë Birthplace is the former home of siblings Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and Branwell Brontë, whose works remain central to English literature.
Officials at the site welcomed the appointment, calling it a strong endorsement of their work in preserving the historic landmark and expanding its public engagement.
Queen Camilla had previously visited the birthplace, and the organisation noted the coincidence of her patronage being confirmed around one year after that visit.
The appointment adds to the Queen’s growing portfolio of cultural and literary patronages during the reign of King Charles III.
