The US Food and Drug Administration is currently investigating six active Cyclospora outbreaks. Authorities are working to identify contaminated food products and trace where the infections began.
Cyclospora is a parasite that causes intestinal illness, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and fatigue. Cases are often connected to fresh produce, including leafy greens, herbs and fruits.
