Oil prices are on course for their biggest weekly gain since mid-July as escalating clashes between the United States and Iran continue to fuel concerns over global energy supplies.

Brent crude futures rose 54 cents, or 0.6%, to $96.06 a barrel, extending gains as traders closely monitored developments in the Middle East.

The renewed tensions have heightened fears of possible disruptions to oil flows through the region, particularly around key shipping routes that are vital to global energy markets.

Investors remain focused on geopolitical developments, with continued uncertainty expected to keep oil prices volatile in the days ahead.
