National Assembly of Pakistan panel has approved a 5% withholding tax on earnings from YouTube and other social media platforms.
The committee also supported mandatory electronic tax filing for eligible taxpayers. Officials said the move aims to widen the tax base and improve compliance.
Lawmakers additionally backed measures for a social media tax framework and legal protection for inherited property issues.
The proposals will now move forward for further legislative approval before becoming law.
