New Zealand cricket great Kane Williamson has announced his immediate retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable 15-year career.
Williamson represented New Zealand in 378 matches across all formats, scoring 19,346 runs and becoming the country’s leading international run-scorer.
The 35-year-old amassed 48 centuries and six double-centuries, earning recognition as one of the finest batters of his generation.
As captain, he guided New Zealand through its most successful era, including two World Cup finals and the 2021 World Test Championship triumph.
Williamson said he was retiring after careful reflection and felt it was the right time to step away from international cricket.
He expressed pride in his career and confidence in the future of New Zealand cricket, praising the talent and ambition within the current squad.
