The appointment is part of PHF’s broader strategy to improve the country’s hockey structure by introducing modern coaching systems and strengthening development programmes at both grassroots and senior levels.

Tahir Zaman brings extensive international experience to the role and is regarded as one of Asia’s most senior high-performance hockey coaches. He is an FIH Academy Trainer and Educator, a member of the FIH Rules Board Committee, and holds the prestigious FIH High Performance Level 6 coaching qualification.

PHF President Mohi Din Ahmed Wani, PHF Development Committee Chairman Olympian Islah ud Din Siddiqui and Olympian Hassan Sardar welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Zaman’s ability to contribute to the revival of Pakistan hockey.

In a joint statement, the federation leadership said Zaman’s international exposure, technical expertise and deep understanding of modern hockey would help rebuild Pakistan’s competitiveness on the global stage.

As Director of High Performance and Development, Tahir Zaman will oversee talent development programmes, coaching clinics and long-term strategies aimed at producing players capable of competing at the highest international level.

Pakistan hockey, once a dominant force in world hockey, has struggled in recent years, and the federation hopes the new appointment will help restore the country’s former glory.
