The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a major overhaul of its central contracts system, replacing the traditional “one system for all” approach with format-specific player contracts.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the new model will assess players based on fitness, domestic performances and format-specific requirements.
Under the revised structure, Test and T20 specialists will be evaluated separately, reflecting the different demands of modern cricket.
Naqvi said the system aims to bring greater transparency to contract decisions and reduce disputes over player categories.
According to the PCB, around 85% of the contract evaluation process will be based on data and performance metrics, including domestic cricket records.
The board believes the new framework will better recognize specialist players and align Pakistan cricket with the evolving nature of the international game.
Officials say the move is part of broader efforts to improve team performance and strengthen accountability across all formats.
