Rawalpindi receives 200mm of rain, its highest downpour in three years, as authorities place both cities on high alert.

Schools have been closed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad following heavy rainfall that triggered concerns over urban flooding and other rain-related emergencies. Authorities have stepped up monitoring across the twin cities, with rescue and emergency departments placed on alert to respond to any situation arising from the intense downpour.
Rawalpindi recorded around 200 millimetres of rain, the highest rainfall in the city in three years, according to an official. The persistent rainfall has raised concerns over water accumulation on roads and in low-lying areas, while residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain.
Authorities are closely monitoring vulnerable areas and drainage channels as more rainfall remains possible. Emergency teams have also been directed to remain ready to deal with flooding, traffic disruptions and other incidents linked to the severe weather.
