Deputy prime minister cites over 560 civilian deaths this year, calling on Kabul to honour its counter-terrorism commitments.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to press the Afghan Taliban to prevent Afghan territory from being used for terrorist activities against neighbouring countries, particularly Pakistan.
Addressing an SCO meeting, Dar said terrorism remains Pakistan’s foremost security challenge, noting that more than 560 civilians have been killed in militant attacks this year. He called on the Afghan authorities to fulfil their commitments on counter-terrorism.
Dar also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace, stability and economic cooperation, stressing that collective action is essential to combat terrorism and strengthen regional security.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with SCO member states to address shared security threats, enhance connectivity and promote lasting peace and development across the region.
