The Supreme Court Registrar’s Office has returned the federal government’s review petition challenging the court’s order to transfer former prime minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.

Sources said the petition, filed by the Islamabad chief commissioner through the advocate general, was returned after the Registrar’s Office raised objections. The government is expected to address the objections and file the review petition again.

The development comes a day after the government challenged the Supreme Court’s directive ordering Khan’s transfer to the private hospital for medical examination and treatment.

The Supreme Court had issued the transfer order on August 18, directing authorities to facilitate Khan’s treatment at Shifa International Hospital.
