The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ruled that bank customers’ confidential data constitutes “property” and that its misuse may attract criminal liability.

Justice Sheikh observed that accessing customers’ confidential banking information is equivalent to gaining access to their financial interests, underscoring the need to protect sensitive banking data.

The court’s ruling highlights the legal importance of safeguarding customers’ personal and financial information and preventing unauthorised access or misuse of banking records.
