BCB chief says both boards remain committed to finding a new window despite strained ties since Bangladesh’s 2024 political upheaval.

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Tamim Iqbal says both Bangladesh and India remain committed to staging their long-delayed white-ball series, insisting discussions between the two boards are continuing despite scheduling challenges and strained bilateral relations. The six-match tour, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, was originally scheduled for 2025 before being postponed as political ties between Dhaka and New Delhi deteriorated.
Tamim said both the BCB and BCCI were “very sincere” about making the series happen and were actively exploring alternative windows in their crowded calendars, adding that the “intentions are very positive.” The delay comes against the backdrop of tensions that emerged after the 2024 mass uprising that toppled former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who later fled to India, while sporting ties were further affected by Bangladesh’s decision to skip the 2026 T20 World Cup in India over security concerns.
