Carlos Alcaraz recovered from a set down to secure his place in the third round of the US Open after a hard-fought comeback victory.
The Spanish star overcame an early setback by raising his level as the match progressed, eventually turning the contest in his favour to keep his Grand Slam campaign on track.
After the match, Alcaraz admitted he had hoped for a much quicker evening, saying, “I wanted to be quick, to be honest. I’m not going to lie.”
The comeback win keeps one of the tournament’s leading contenders firmly in the hunt as he continues his bid for another US Open title.
