The long-delayed trial of the man accused of masterminding the September 11, 2001 attacks has been scheduled to begin in June 2028.
The proceedings opened with the selection of a panel made up entirely of military service members who will serve as the jury in the case.
The accused faces charges over his alleged role in planning the 9/11 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
The trial has been delayed for years by legal disputes and negotiations over possible plea agreements, making the newly announced schedule a significant development in the long-running case.
