Tremor recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres, says Pakistan Meteorological Department

KARACHI: A 2.9-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Karachi, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface, the PMD said.
The tremor was felt in some parts of the city, briefly alarming residents and prompting concerns about possible aftershocks.
However, there were no immediate reports of casualties, injuries or property damage following the earthquake.
The PMD continues to monitor seismic activity in and around Karachi. Residents have been advised to remain calm and follow safety precautions in case of further tremors.
Earthquakes of low intensity generally cause little or no structural damage, although their impact can vary depending on the location and depth of the quake.
