The United States is entering what Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described as an “economic D-Day” against Iran as Washington prepares to intensify pressure on Tehran.

Bessent said the administration would use the full range of its economic and government powers to isolate Iran and increase the costs of doing business with the country.

The warning comes as Washington seeks greater international support for its campaign against Tehran, with US officials urging governments and companies to distance themselves from Iran’s economy.

The tougher approach is expected to target Iran’s financial and commercial networks as the Trump administration seeks to constrain Tehran and force changes in its policies.
