US President Donald Trump has said Apple will partner with Intel to design and manufacture chips in the United States, in a move aimed at boosting domestic semiconductor production and reducing reliance on overseas suppliers.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the agreement would see Apple collaborate with Intel on chip development and production, strengthening US-based manufacturing capacity.

The partnership could help Apple diversify its supply chain, as it currently relies heavily on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company for advanced chip production, while demand for AI chips continues to surge globally.

Intel has been working to expand its manufacturing capabilities and recently reported progress on its next-generation 18A chip technology, which has entered early production stages.

The reported agreement follows months of discussions between the two companies, according to earlier reports, and comes as the US government increases its focus on strengthening semiconductor supply chains.

The Trump administration has also taken an equity stake in Intel and pledged major investment to expand US chip factories as part of its broader industrial strategy.

Neither Apple nor Intel has publicly confirmed the latest announcement.
