Sanitation vehicles acquired under the Suthra Punjab cleanliness programme are reportedly lying unused and deteriorating in Rawalpindi for over a year and a half.

The fleet, including loaders, trolleys, tractors and utility vehicles, has been parked in the open near the Pothohar Town office and District Courts complex, exposing them to rain, heat and rust damage.

Local sources say lack of security has also led to theft of tyres, seats and spare parts from several vehicles during night hours.

Officials acknowledge the vehicles are not currently in active use, while local administration says they were temporarily stored at the site and do not belong to their department.

The Suthra Punjab Authority says the vehicles will be deployed from the new fiscal year starting in July across Rawalpindi Division.

Despite repeated complaints, concerns over maintenance and protection of the fleet remain unresolved, with several vehicles now reportedly close to becoming unusable.
