Twelve people have been killed after a private plane carrying skydivers crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri, authorities said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that all 12 occupants on board, including 11 skydivers and one pilot, died in the crash.
The aircraft took off from Butler Memorial Airport, about 60 miles south of Kansas City, before going down shortly afterward in a nearby field.
Officials said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.
Local authorities said multiple emergency teams responded to the scene, and efforts are underway to identify the victims and notify families.
Law enforcement described the incident as an apparent accident, noting that it was not a commercial airline flight.
The crash occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. local time, according to officials.
