An experimental driverless car developed by a student collided with an Islamabad Police vehicle after an accidental button press during a test, turning what first appeared to be a mysterious crash into a technology mishap.
The incident occurred while the autonomous vehicle was being demonstrated, with initial reports suggesting a “driverless car” had struck a police van.
The student behind the project later explained that the collision happened after the wrong control was accidentally pressed, causing the prototype to move unexpectedly into the nearby police vehicle.
No serious injuries were reported in the incident, while the unusual crash has drawn attention to Pakistan’s growing interest in student-led innovation and the importance of safety measures during autonomous vehicle testing.
