Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for stronger Pakistan–China cooperation to help promote peace and stability in the Middle East during a high-level meeting in Beijing.
He met Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People, where both sides held detailed talks on bilateral ties and regional developments.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan fully supports China’s vision for regional peace and backed President Xi Jinping’s four-point agenda aimed at improving stability in conflict-hit regions.
He also noted that Pakistan and China are jointly working on initiatives to support ceasefire efforts in the Middle East, describing the global situation as a “critical phase” that is affecting economies worldwide, including Pakistan.
Premier Li Qiang acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and said China values its close coordination with Islamabad.
He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to strengthening its long-standing friendship with Pakistan and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, both leaders also discussed broader bilateral relations, with plans for continued high-level engagement, including an upcoming meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister thanked the Chinese leadership for their hospitality and said Pakistan–China relations have continued to deepen over 75 years of diplomatic ties.
He also expressed condolences over a recent coal mine accident in China’s Shanxi province, showing solidarity with the affected families.
