International media reports have credited Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir with playing a mediatory role in efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to a US television report, his recent visit to Tehran helped advance discussions between the two sides and move negotiations closer to a potential framework agreement.
The report claims that following his meetings in Iran, a draft proposal was prepared and shared with both Iranian and US leadership for consideration.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir reportedly met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and other senior officials to discuss regional developments and diplomatic pathways.
US media also suggested that both Washington and Tehran have shown confidence in Pakistan’s role as a mediator, with coordination between Pakistan’s political and military leadership highlighted as a key factor.
The report further stated that Pakistan has historically played a diplomatic role in facilitating communication between major global powers, including past engagement between the United States and China.
It also noted that Pakistan’s involvement is being seen as part of broader regional efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and support stability through dialogue.
