ISLAMABAD: The body of a man abducted from the federal capital’s F-6 area has been recovered from Mardan, police confirmed on Tuesday, adding that initial findings suggest he was subjected to torture.
The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Farrukh Afzal, was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem examination.
According to police, Afzal was kidnapped late at night while returning home. As he was opening the gate of his residence in F-6/1, four armed men forced him into a vehicle after opening fire.
A case was registered at Kohsar police station on the complaint of the victim’s father. The FIR states that he rushed outside after hearing noise around midnight and saw several unidentified men abducting his son. When family members and neighbours tried to intervene, the suspects fired shots and fled.
A relative told that Afzal arrived home shortly after midnight when three individuals attempted to abduct him. Despite calls for help, the armed men managed to take him away. The family alleged that a timely police response, including road blockades, might have prevented the incident.
Police said the main suspect, along with a female accomplice, has been arrested in Swat, and the vehicle used in the abduction has also been recovered.
Authorities added that investigations are ongoing from multiple angles, and efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the crime.
