WhatsApp is reportedly working on a significant visual redesign of its in-chat interface, introducing a new “Liquid Glass” design language aimed at giving the app a more modern and refined appearance.
According to a report, the update will revamp key chat elements, including the message input bar and the top navigation area inside conversations.
One of the most notable changes is the chat bar, which is expected to move away from its fixed layout and adopt a floating design. It will reportedly feature a translucent, frosted-glass effect that blends with the background, creating a more layered and contemporary look.
The top navigation bar within chats is also expected to be redesigned with a transparent finish and subtle blur effects, allowing wallpapers and chat content to remain partially visible beneath the interface. Interactive features, such as the “jump to latest message” button, are also likely to follow the same glass-inspired styling.
While the redesign has not yet reached beta testers, it is said to be active internally for testing. Early traces of the interface changes were reportedly seen in beta builds starting late 2025, suggesting a gradual development process.
The update appears to be influenced by Apple’s recent “Liquid Glass” design language introduced in newer iOS versions. However, Meta has not yet confirmed an official rollout timeline for the feature.
