At least 12 people were killed and more than 30 injured after Russia launched a massive overnight missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities said.

The strikes damaged residential buildings, a school, a children’s hospital, warehouses and other infrastructure across several districts of the capital. Fires broke out at multiple locations, while emergency crews worked to rescue people trapped in damaged buildings.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces carried out airstrikes and drone attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region, claiming they targeted facilities linked to drone production, a military depot and logistics hubs.

The latest assault adds to a sharp escalation in aerial attacks as Ukraine continues to face pressure on its air-defence capabilities.
