Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has weighed in on the growing debate over whether GTA 6 could launch as a digital-only title, expressing support for keeping physical game releases available for players who prefer them.

Speaking about the industry’s shift toward digital distribution, Houser said he personally was not strongly attached to the format but believed companies should provide physical editions if there is consumer demand.

His comments come as speculation continues to grow around Grand Theft Auto VI, with some fans worried that future blockbuster releases may abandon discs and boxed copies altogether. The discussion reflects broader changes across the gaming industry, where digital downloads and subscription services have become increasingly dominant.

Many players continue to value physical releases for collectibility, resale, ownership and preservation purposes, while publishers are increasingly focused on the convenience and lower distribution costs associated with digital sales. Houser’s remarks are likely to resonate with fans who hope major franchises such as GTA will continue to offer traditional retail editions alongside digital versions.
