According to state media, the prime minister directed authorities to identify those behind the attack and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Describing Gadhi as a dedicated PML-N worker, Shehbaz Sharif said the attack was “extremely concerning,” particularly as the MPA was reportedly hearing public grievances at the time of the incident.
The prime minister also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
The incident occurred a day earlier when unidentified gunmen opened fire at Gadhi’s dera, killing four of his companions and injuring the MPA.
Toba Tek Singh police said Ayub Gadhi was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, while raids were underway to arrest the suspects involved.
Separately, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also sought a report on the incident and condemned the attack.
In her statement, the chief minister directed authorities to immediately arrest those responsible and ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.
She also extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of Ayub Gadhi and other injured persons.
