At least three people, including prominent tribal elder and Ahmadzai Wazir tribe chief Malik Tariq Wazir, were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Wana on Monday, officials said.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir, the explosion occurred near Gulshan Plaza in the busy Rustam Bazaar area when Malik Tariq Wazir’s vehicle was passing through the market.
The powerful blast killed three people on the spot and injured four others, who were later shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Security forces and rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion, while authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
