Premier to assume Pakistan’s chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27 during the Kyrgyzstan visit, says FO.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to leave for Kyrgyzstan today to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and hold a series of bilateral engagements with regional leaders, according to the Foreign Office.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen ties with SCO member states and discuss regional cooperation, connectivity, security and economic partnerships on the sidelines of the summit.
During the visit, the prime minister will assume Pakistan’s chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for the 2026-27 term, marking a significant diplomatic milestone for the country, the Foreign Office said.
Officials said the premier’s meetings with fellow leaders are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral relations and reinforcing Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace, stability and economic collaboration through the SCO platform.
