A recent Gallup Pakistan public opinion survey conducted from May 12 to May 18, 2025 found that an overwhelming 97 percent of respondents rated the performance of the Pakistan Armed Forces as “good” or “very good” in the aftermath of recent clashes with India, reflecting broad public approval of the military’s handling of the situation.
The survey, titled “Public Opinion After India‑Pakistan Ceasefire: Comprehensive Analysis,” also revealed that 93 percent of respondents said their view of the armed forces improved after the conflict, and 96 percent believed Pakistan had been successful in confronting Indian military pressure.
In contrast, while public confidence in the civilian government remained positive, it was notably lower than support for the military, with 73 percent expressing satisfaction with the government’s overall response to the crisis.
The poll covered a nationally representative sample of Pakistanis from all provinces and both urban and rural areas, aiming to capture broad public sentiment during a period of heightened national security concerns.
Experts caution that such high approval figures reflect public mood during a specific security context and may not indicate a static or unchanging sentiment toward the armed forces in all circumstances.
