PM Shehbaz approves Budget 2026–27 draft

Prime minister thanks coalition partners and IMF as cabinet clears budget proposals.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the draft of the Federal Budget 2026–27 after chairing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad to review the proposed fiscal plan.

During the meeting, the prime minister thanked coalition partners for their support in finalising the budget and acknowledged the assistance of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Cabinet members endorsed the budget proposals, expressing their support through desk-thumping during the session.

Shehbaz Sharif specifically thanked the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) for their cooperation.

In a post on X, the prime minister said the budget had been prepared with “great effort and sincerity,” adding that the welfare of the people of Pakistan remained the government’s top priority. The details of the budget are expected to be presented in parliament later today.
