Shehbaz Sharif Witnesses Agreements Signing With Alibaba Group

New MoUs aim to boost Pakistan’s digital economy, AI development, and cross-border trade cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a signing ceremony of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Alibaba Group in Hangzhou, China.

During his visit to Alibaba’s headquarters, the Prime Minister was briefed by Alibaba Chairman Joe Tsai on the company’s operations and future plans.

A long-term cooperation agreement was signed between Pakistan and Alibaba, focusing on expanding digital and technological collaboration.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and China share a strong and historic relationship that has grown stronger over time. He added that Pakistan has played a role in promoting regional peace, with support from China and other friendly nations.

He also expressed Pakistan’s full support for China’s vision for regional stability and development under President Xi Jinping.

The Prime Minister said Alibaba’s partnership would help strengthen Pakistan’s efforts to digitize its economy, improve revenue systems, and modernize key sectors.

He highlighted that cooperation in areas such as information technology and artificial intelligence could bring improvements in agriculture, healthcare, education, and industry.

Shehbaz Sharif said a committee will be formed to ensure that all agreements are implemented according to a clear timeline.

Alibaba Chairman Joe Tsai said the company plans to support Pakistan in improving digital infrastructure, trade facilitation, and industrial development.

He added that future cooperation could expand into cloud computing, artificial intelligence, fintech, healthcare systems, and agriculture-based technologies.
