Pakistan’s armed forces have reaffirmed their support for the Kashmiri people on Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the anniversary of India’s August 5, 2019, constitutional changes concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
In messages issued on the occasion, the military leadership expressed concern over what it described as the continued occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the presence of Indian security forces in the territory.
The armed forces said Pakistan stands in solidarity with Kashmiris and supports their right to determine their future in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
Youm-e-Istehsal is observed annually in Pakistan to highlight the situation in Kashmir following India’s decision to revoke the special constitutional status previously granted to the region under Article 370 and Article 35A.
Official statements also called on the international community to take notice of the humanitarian and political situation in the territory and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue extending diplomatic, political and moral support to the Kashmiri people.
