Mitchell Marsh is expected to miss Australia’s upcoming ODI series against Pakistan because of injury concerns and fatigue, according to Australian media reports.
The three-match ODI series will begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi, while the remaining matches will take place on June 2 and June 4 in Lahore.
Reports said Marsh suffered an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League and has also been dealing with exhaustion after a long and demanding season. His condition has placed his participation in serious doubt.
In Marsh’s possible absence, Josh Inglis has emerged as the leading candidate to captain the Australian side.
Australia will already be without senior players Pat Cummins and Travis Head, who are unavailable because of IPL commitments and were not included in the ODI squad.
The situation may also create an opportunity for Oliver Peake to make his international debut if changes are made to the final playing squad for the Pakistan series.
