Met Office predicts temperatures to exceed 40°C in Sindh and Balochistan

(By Web Desk – Apr 20, 2026)

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heat advisory, projecting that Sibi could reach a peak of 44°C today, while several cities in Sindh face similarly grueling conditions: Sukkur is expected to hit 43°C, Dadu 42°C, Mithi 41°C, and Hyderabad 40°C. In Karachi, the mercury is anticipated to settle around 35°C. Meanwhile, Punjab is also heating up, with temperatures forecast to climb to 37°C in Multan and Sargodha, and 36°C in both Lahore and Dera Ghazi Khan.

This surge follows an earlier PMD forecast indicating a shift toward dry, stable weather across Sindh, which is driving temperatures upward. While the gradual rise in Karachi was expected to begin around April 10 with highs of at least 34°C, the department warned that this warming trend is likely to intensify as the month progresses. Experts have cautioned that if these rising temperatures continue to accelerate, parts of the region could face legitimate heatwave conditions by the end of April.
