Tehran says it will abandon its memorandum of understanding with the United States if Washington fails to honour its commitments.

Iran is continuing talks with Pakistan and other mediators in an effort to prevent further regional escalation, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has said. The diplomatic engagements are aimed at easing tensions and keeping communication channels open.
Baghaei said Pakistan is among several countries playing a mediating role to encourage dialogue and reduce the risk of further conflict. He stressed that diplomacy remains Iran’s preferred path for resolving disputes.
The spokesperson also warned that Tehran would abandon its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States if Washington fails to fulfil its commitments. He said Iran expects all parties to adhere to the terms of the agreement.
Baghaei criticised what he described as continued US pressure, saying such actions undermine efforts to build trust and advance diplomatic progress. He urged Washington to demonstrate its commitment through concrete steps.
The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts involving multiple countries. Mediators are seeking to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
