Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says talks with the United States to finalise a broader agreement will begin on Friday, following a newly signed ceasefire arrangement between the two sides.
The deal, described by officials as a memorandum of understanding, was electronically signed by US and Iranian representatives, though most terms have not been publicly detailed.
Araghchi has indicated the agreement is only an initial step, with wider negotiations expected to cover issues including sanctions relief and Iran’s nuclear programme.
Officials say the ceasefire framework is intended to reduce hostilities and reopen key routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, but implementation details remain uncertain.
A formal signing ceremony is expected later in Geneva, where further negotiations are set to continue over the coming weeks.
