India moved within four wickets of victory in the Test against Sri Lanka after the hosts slipped to 195-6 while chasing a daunting target of 372.
Sri Lanka made 195 runs for the loss of six wickets after lunch, leaving them 177 runs short of the target with the match firmly in India’s control.
Sonal Dinusha provided resistance for the hosts, remaining unbeaten on 80 as he tried to keep Sri Lanka’s hopes alive. With wickets falling at regular intervals, Dinusha now carries much of the responsibility for extending the chase.
India will look to finish the job quickly, while Sri Lanka need a major lower-order fightback to pull off an unlikely victory.
