An Islamabad court on Tuesday sentenced Umar Hayat to death in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf, while also awarding him additional prison terms and fines under multiple sections.

The court also imposed a Rs2 million fine on the convict.
Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old social media influencer and medical student, was shot dead at her Islamabad residence on June 2, 2025.
Police arrested the suspect from Jaranwala on June 3, while he was later identified by eyewitnesses during an identification parade on June 13.
A special prosecutor was appointed by the government to pursue the case, which went through more than 50 hearings. The prosecution presented 27 witnesses, including the victim’s mother and aunt.
The accused was formally indicted on September 20, while the trial had been temporarily halted following high court directions before the final verdict was announced after the case was reserved for judgment.
According to the verdict, Umar Hayat was awarded capital punishment under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code along with a Rs2 million fine.
He was also sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and fined Rs200,000 under Section 449 (house trespass), another 10 years and Rs200,000 under Section 392 (robbery), and one year with a Rs100,000 fine under Section 411 (recovery).
Overall, the convict was handed 21 years of additional imprisonment alongside the death penalty and cumulative fines.
Following the verdict, Sana Yousaf’s mother expressed satisfaction, saying justice had been served and praising the legal team’s efforts. She also stated she wished the convict had been punished more severely.
Her father thanked the court, police, media, and legal team, calling the verdict significant for society and a step toward justice.
