Canada has praised Pakistan’s “constructive role” in supporting diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran, which helped facilitate a recent understanding between the two countries, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The appreciation came during a phone call between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, where both sides discussed regional developments and bilateral relations.
According to the Foreign Office, Canada acknowledged Pakistan’s mediation efforts that contributed to easing tensions and enabling dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
The two ministers also reviewed preparations for upcoming diplomatic engagement in Switzerland, where further discussions between the parties are expected to take place.
Beyond regional issues, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan–Canada relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The development comes amid continued international attention on the US–Iran understanding, which Pakistan has played a key mediating role in facilitating through sustained diplomatic engagement.
