Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of defender Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool on a four-year deal, with the French international joining the Spanish giants at the end of his contract at Anfield.

The club announced that both parties reached an agreement for Konaté to become a Real Madrid player until June 30, 2030. The 27-year-old had joined Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig and went on to make 183 appearances for the Premier League side, winning the league title in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022.

Konaté is currently with the France national team at the World Cup and becomes part of a major squad rebuild at Real Madrid, who have already added several high-profile names this summer.

The Spanish club has also appointed José Mourinho as head coach and brought in Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva, as they look to bounce back after two trophyless seasons. Further transfer activity is expected, with links to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries amid ongoing changes in the squad.

Real Madrid have also extended the contract of defender Antonio Rüdiger until 2027, while veterans Dani Carvajal and David Alaba have departed following the expiry of their deals.
