Emergency teams are focusing on a tunnel where survivors are believed to be trapped, raising hopes that the operation could still save lives despite worsening conditions.
The floods, triggered by a glacial lake outburst, have destroyed homes, washed away bridges and cut off remote settlements, complicating rescue and relief efforts. Authorities in both China and Nepal continue to deploy rescue teams, heavy machinery and emergency supplies as the full scale of the disaster becomes clearer.
