Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Bishkek to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several regional leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pezeshkian’s visit comes as Iran faces heightened regional tensions and growing US pressure, making his meetings with other SCO members particularly significant. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also departed for Kyrgyzstan to attend the summit, joining leaders from across the region for discussions on security, trade and regional cooperation.
The Bishkek summit brings together major regional powers including China, Russia, India, Iran and Pakistan, with geopolitical tensions and economic cooperation expected to feature prominently on the agenda.
