President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to extending continued diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal.

In separate messages, the country’s top leadership expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and said Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at international diplomatic forums.

The observance marks seven years since India abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A on August 5, 2019, ending the region’s special constitutional status and reorganising it into federally administered territories.

The President and Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan stands with Kashmiris in their pursuit of what it describes as their right to self-determination, while calling on the international community to pay attention to the situation in the territory.

Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed across Pakistan with official events, public gatherings and solidarity activities aimed at highlighting the country’s continued support for the Kashmiri cause.
