Pakistan will not witness the total solar eclipse of 2026, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which said the rare celestial event will be visible mainly from parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Russia.
The eclipse will occur when the Moon completely blocks the Sun, creating a brief period of darkness along the path of totality.
While Pakistan will not experience the total eclipse, skywatchers in the region will have another opportunity to observe a partial lunar eclipse on August 28.
Astronomers have advised viewers to use proper eye protection during solar eclipse observations, as looking directly at the Sun can cause serious eye damage.
The 2026 eclipse is expected to attract global interest as millions of people prepare to witness one of nature’s most spectacular astronomical events.
