The British royal family has significantly reduced its public engagements in recent years, with official records showing a sharp decline in duties since 2012.
Working royals carried out around 2,273 engagements last year, compared with 4,127 in 2012, when Queen Elizabeth II was still on the throne. The number of active working royals has also fallen from 15 to 11.
At the same time, public funding through the Sovereign Grant has increased, rising to nearly £100 million, up from £31 million in 2012 (about £45.8 million adjusted for inflation).
Age, health issues, and a shift in priorities have contributed to the reduced workload, with senior royals reportedly focusing more on targeted initiatives and family commitments rather than traditional ceremonial appearances.
The monarchy is also expected to receive additional funding for palace maintenance in coming years, while officials explore ways to increase income from royal properties.
