Two pilots were martyred when a Pakistan Air Force Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crashed near Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a routine training flight, the ISPR said.

The deceased were identified as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah, an instructor pilot, and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy, a trainee officer.

ISPR confirmed that a board of inquiry has been formed by Air Headquarters to investigate the cause of the crash.

Military leadership, including the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, expressed grief over the loss.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed condolences and prayed for the deceased officers, praising the armed forces’ professionalism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described both officers as martyrs and extended solidarity with their families.

The incident follows a recent helicopter crash near Muzaffarabad in June, which also resulted in fatalities, with investigations ordered in that case as well.
