LAHORE: Investigators probing the alleged abduction and sexual assault of two foreign women in Lahore have found that one of the complainants secretly included a coded distress signal in a voice message recorded under duress, a clue that helped trigger an international rescue effort.

According to investigators, the suspects allegedly forced one of the women at gunpoint to record a voice note for her family as part of a ransom demand. The message was sent to her father while the abductors were reportedly present.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the woman managed to include the word “Carlitos” at the end of the recording, despite being instructed to follow a script prepared by the suspects.
Her father immediately recognised the word as a pre-arranged distress signal indicating that she was in danger and speaking under coercion. He promptly informed the relevant authorities.
Investigators said the father’s information led to an international alert being issued from the Netherlands, prompting Pakistani law enforcement agencies to launch efforts to locate the women and investigate the allegations.
The investigation into the alleged abduction and sexual assault remains underway, while authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
