The second bunkering facility at Gwadar Port has officially become operational, marking another step forward in the port’s efforts to expand its marine fuel supply services and strengthen its role as a regional maritime hub.

With the new facility in service, Gwadar has extended its network for Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), the cleaner marine fuel required under international environmental regulations for most commercial vessels.

Officials said the expansion is expected to improve fuel availability for ships calling at the port, reduce reliance on other regional bunkering centers and enhance Gwadar’s attractiveness for international shipping lines operating in the Arabian Sea and Gulf region.

The development is also viewed as an important component of Pakistan’s broader strategy to increase port activity, maritime trade and logistics services, while positioning Gwadar as a competitive refueling and transshipment destination for vessels traveling along key regional shipping routes.
