The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a sharp decline on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index losing nearly 1,200 points amid widespread profit-taking across major sectors.
Heavy selling was reported in banking, cement, energy and automobile stocks, while weakness in regional Asian markets further weighed on investor sentiment.
The KSE-100 index closed at 186,255.55 points after the broad-based sell-off, as investors moved to secure gains following recent market advances.
Analysts attributed the decline to cautious trading, sector-wide pressure and external market cues, with investors closely monitoring economic developments and corporate performance indicators.
Market participants said volatility could continue in the short term as investors assess global trends, local economic indicators and upcoming policy developments.
